No. We install all of our buildings to ensure they are set up correctly, ensuring everything is in top condition. Our expert installation team also makes sure the building is fully ready for use, giving you peace of mind. Additionally, by having us install your shed, we can offer a proper warranty. If you choose to self-install, we unfortunately cannot provide a warranty for the building.

While we can’t comment on other companies, our sheds are designed for durability, featuring pressure-treated timber, premium finishes, and outstanding customer service. We take pride in offering excellent value for money. If you’re considering another company, feel free to send us a link to their sheds, and we’ll provide you with an honest, impartial opinion.

Yes, we welcome custom requests. Please send your drawings or ideas to sales@mcdgardenbuildings.co.uk, and we’ll work with you to create the perfect shed design.

Eco Pads are heavy-duty recycled plastic tiles, each approx. 30cm square and 4cm high. They’re ideal if you already have a level base but are concerned about standing water — we can securely screw the pads to the underside of the floor frame to raise the building slightly off the ground.

Because they’re plastic, they’ll never absorb water, and with a load rating of up to 420 tonnes per m², they’re incredibly strong and durable.

Please note: Eco Pads and EZ Bases are not used together — it’s one or the other depending on your base setup.

Price depends on the size of the building.

If you’d like to add Eco Pads to your order, just give our sales team a call on 01226 215090 or email us and we’ll get it sorted for you.

Materials & Construction

Yes, all our timber is pressure-treated to protect it from rot, decay, and insect damage, ensuring long-lasting durability. A ten year guarantee backs up this claim.

Dip treating is often less effective and doesn’t provide the same long-lasting protection as pressure treating, which is why we choose this method for its superior durability. If a shed you are considering has an orange look to it, it’s more than likely dip treated.

Steel roofs offer superior protection against the elements, are more durable than felt roofs, and require less maintenance – in fact we offer a lifetime of the shed guarantee on our steel roof.

Steel roofs are typically quieter than you might expect. However, during heavy rain, there may be some noise, but it is minimal.

Condensation can be an issue for sheds in general. While steel roofs are sometimes considered more prone to condensation than traditional felt roofs, this isn’t necessarily the case. We install a breathable membrane in all of our buildings, which helps to trap any condensation behind the barrier, preventing it from affecting the interior. Condensation only occurs if there is moisture or warmth inside the shed to begin with, so the best way to prevent it is to ensure that everything stored inside is completely dry. After a cold spell, it’s always a good idea to air the shed out to ensure everything stays dry and free from moisture.

Standard Range – 20mm Cladding – 20mm Floorboards – 75mm x 36mm Framework Throughout – Steel Roof – Internal Membrane

Eco Range – 12mm Cladding – 20mm Floorboards – 45mm x 30mm Framework Throughout – Steel Roof – Internal Membrane.

Our garden rooms are insulated as standard but our garden buildings (shed, cottage etc) are not. It is an optional upgrade – please ask our sales team for prices.

While the roof is strong and can take some weight, we don’t recommend walking on it or storing items on it.

Ideally, yes. It’s supplied as standard so doesn’t cost you any extra. We can manufacture it without the membrane on the walls if you are certain you don’t want it but it must stay on the roof.

No, the membrane is a durable, thick material that can withstand significant handling. However, like any material, it is not completely indestructible.

The breathable membrane helps keep the inside of your building nice and dry. If any condensation does form, it will be contained behind the membrane, minimising its impact on the inside of the building. However, the best way to ensure your shed remains completely dry is by following the care guide and applying a high-quality weatherproofing product to the exterior. Proper treatment and maintenance will provide the best long-term protection against moisture.
