The MCD Team

More than just a Shed.

We’re a team of dedicated craftsmen, designers, and customer service experts who take pride in delivering top-quality garden buildings across the UK. Meet the friendly faces behind our business.

Martin

Founder

  • What’s your role at MCD Garden Buildings, and what do you enjoy most about it? My role is a bit of everything – from sorting out designs to helping customers, managing the team and ensuring the whole place runs smoothly. I enjoy seeing something go from a simple idea to a finished building in someone’s garden – that never gets old.

  • Would we find you gardening at weekends? Probably not! You’re more likely to find me at the gym than digging in the borders – but I do love a tidy garden and a good outdoor space to relax in.

  • Tea or coffee – and how do you take it? Coffee, every time. Strong, splash of milk. Or an energy drink if it’s one of those days!

  • What’s something customers might not know about what we do? We manufacture everything ourselves – every single building is made to order in our own workshop. That means we’ve got full control over the quality and can tweak the design to suit what the customer wants, not just what’s off the shelf.

  • If you had a garden building of your own, what would it be? It’d be the Scarlett. I’ve always loved the traditional style and that little veranda – it’s got a real charm to it. Perfect for a quiet morning coffee or winding down in the evening.

Emma

Founder

  • What’s your role at MCD Garden Buildings, and what do you enjoy most about it? I am one of the directors, but I do many jobs within the business; sales, customer service, accounts, and even help out in the workshop when needed.

  • Would we find you gardening at weekends? No. I work most Saturdays, so Sunday is spent relaxing with the family.

  • Tea or coffee – and how do you take it? Coffee – I love a caramel latte or an iced coffee.

  • What’s something customers might not know about what we do? Every one of our buildings is built to order so if the standard layout doesn’t quite fit your needs, we can adjust window and door placements, change sizes, add internal partitions, or include extras like insulation, cladding, electrics and more—whatever you need to make the space just right for you.

  • If you had a garden building of your own, what would it be? One of the combos, either the Emer or the Ruby. The perfect blend of practical and peaceful. I’d have a proper shed space for all the garden gear, bikes and tools… and then a separate summerhouse area to relax with a brew, get stuck into a good book, or even use as a little work-from-home spot when the sun’s out. Best of both worlds!

Adam

Fitter

  • What’s your role at MCD Garden Buildings, and what do you enjoy most about it? I’m one of the lads out fitting your sheds and summerhouses. Best bit? Seeing it all come together on the day, and the customer’s face when they realise it’s gone from a pile of panels to their dream building in a few hours.

  • Would we find you gardening at weekends Not a chance. If I’m outside at the weekend, it’s usually with a fishing rod, not a trowel. The grass gets cut… eventually.

  • Tea or coffee – and how do you take it? Tea, every time. Strong, milk, two sugars – keep it simple.

  • What’s something customers might not know about what we do? People are always surprised how quick it all happens. We turn up with a van full of panels and by the end of the day there’s a proper building stood there – roof, doors, windows, the lot.

  • If you had a garden building of your own, what would it be? Easy one – a Garden Room. Insulated, TV on the wall, fridge full of beer… basically a man cave at the bottom of the garden.

Ruby

Admin Assistant

  • What’s your role at MCD Garden Buildings, and what do you enjoy most about it? I help with Customer Service and admin, so I’m usually either answering questions or making sure everything’s in place for orders to go smoothly. I like being able to help out wherever I’m needed.

  • Would we find you gardening at weekends? On weekends, I usually prefer staying in, either gaming or watching my favourite shows.

  • Tea or coffee – and how do you take it? I’m not really a tea or coffee person, I tend to go for energy drinks like a Redbull instead.

  • What’s something customers might not know about what we do? Our buildings are made with strong materials that can handle all kinds of weather, rain, wind, and even really sunny days. And when it comes to the roof, you don’t have to worry, it’s built to last as long as the building itself.

  • If you had a garden building of your own, what would it be? I’d pick the Ruby Summerhouse, it’s named after me, so we’re kind of like soulmates! Just like me, it’s stylish and super versatile. Whether you want a chill place to relax or a space to get creative, it’s perfect for just about anything.

Steve

Fitter

What’s your role at MCD Garden Buildings, and what do you enjoy most about it? I’m part of the fitting team – I spend my days putting up sheds, summerhouses and garden rooms all over the country. What I enjoy most is being outdoors and on the move. No two jobs are the same and I like a challenge.

Would we find you gardening at weekends Honestly? Not really. I’d rather be watching the match or out for a walk. I do my bit when I have to, but I wouldn’t call myself green-fingered!

Tea or coffee – and how do you take it? Coffee – nice and strong, milk, no sugar.

What’s something customers might not know about what we do? Most people don’t realise how solid these buildings are until they see them going up. They’re built properly, not like the flat-pack sheds you get at DIY stores.

If you had a garden building of your own, what would it be? I’d have a Ruby Combo – one half as a workshop, the other half as a chill-out space. Best of both worlds.

Charlie

Marketing

  • What’s your role at MCD Garden Buildings, and what do you enjoy most about it? I am involved with all things digital at MCD. I look after the website, social media, and create photography and videography content. I enjoy being creative and seeing the custom buildings customers make.

  • Would we find you gardening at weekends? I don’t mind mucking in with the gardening at the weekend, I always wanted to design gardens when I was younger.

  • Tea or coffee – and how do you take it? Tea with milk and two sugars please.

  • What’s something customers might not know about what we do? I always think that it’s cool that customers can upgrade certain aspects or change the location of doors and windows on most of our buildings.

  • If you had a garden building of your own, what would it be? I have always dreamed of owning a garden room at the back of my garden that I can turn into a man cave.

Joanne

General Manager

  • What’s your role at MCD Garden Buildings, and what do you enjoy most about it? As General Manager, my role covers a bit of everything — from handling sales enquiries and processing orders to taking payments, supporting customers, and managing our fitting team with their route planning. But if I’m honest, the most important part of my day is making the morning coffees!

  • Would we find you gardening at weekends? You’re far more likely to find me supervising my husband while he does the gardening — gin in hand, of course.

  • Tea or coffee – and how do you take it? I’m not too fussy, as long as it’s hot and has two sugars.

  • What’s something customers might not know about what we do? We offer a lifetime guarantee on our roofs. Every building is made to order, so you can choose exactly where your windows and doors go. We can even provide 3D designs on placed orders if you’d like to visualise your new building before it arrives.

  • If you had a garden building of your own, what would it be? I already have one of our pent sheds for storage, but my dream would be the Ruby Terrace — hot tub on one side and a bar on the other.
